Networking at UBC’s Annual MEL & MHLP Open House

Once a year, UBC hosts the Master of Engineering Leadership and Master of Health Leadership & Policy Open House. The event brings together faculty and staff from UBC, current students, and industry professionals to discuss the opportunities provided by the MEL & MHLP programs.

The night was organized to provide time to network, as well as time to learn more about the graduate degrees. For the first portion of the event, attendees mingled with one another while sharing food and refreshments. Ken Zuidema, Talent Acquisition Specialist for the Faculty of Applied Science, then gave an informative presentation that provided an overview of the MEL & MHLP programs. Afterwards, prospective students were able to connect directly with faculty and staff to have their questions answered regarding the intricacies of the program.

The Open House provides a unique opportunity for professionals interested in the MEL or MHLP programs to gain key insight into the programs from those with inside expertise and experience. We hope that the MEL & MHLP Open House empowered all those who attended to pursue their passion and step into leadership roles within their industry.

The future of engineering and health care is dependent on skilled change-makers who are eager to innovate and create actionable solutions to industry challenges. UBC’s professional graduate degree programs provide students with the tools to become leaders in their chosen field.
