The application portal for the Master of Engineering Leadership (MEL) or Master of Health Leadership and Policy (MHLP)  is now open, and we are accepting applications for programs starting in January 2024.

A year from now, in January 2024, a group of successful professionals will begin their MEL and MHLP programs on UBC’s Vancouver campus. They’ll have diverse backgrounds and professional experiences, but they’ll share a desire to gain the skills and knowledge to make a difference in their industry.

Join the next cohort of healthcare and engineering leaders

If you want to be part of this cohort and accelerate your career development, now’s the time to start your application for the MEL or MHLP. We are currently accepting applications for programs beginning in January 2024.

We offer eight sector-specific programs – two in the health-care field and six in applied sciences. Each program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that includes technical, industry-focused courses along with business and leadership courses. You’ll graduate with the technical and business knowledge you need to lead teams, take on positions of greater responsibility and make an impact in your industry.

KEY DATES

There are three MEL and MHLP application rounds:

  • Round 1 (all applicants): March 30, 2023
  • Round 2 (all applicants): June 30, 2023
  • Round 3 (Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and US citizens ONLY): August 30, 2023

Please note that international students can apply in the first two application rounds, but we strongly recommend applying during the first round to ensure you receive your study permit on time.

Apply early

There are advantages for all students to apply in the first round. You’ll find out on May 3, 2023, if you’ve been accepted into the program, which will give you plenty of time to plan your transition to Vancouver and UBC. We’ve created a video to explain the benefits of applying early.

HOW TO BEGIN

Before you start your application, we encourage you to use our eligibility tool to make sure you have the academic and professional requirements to be eligible for the program. It’s also a good idea to sign up for an information session. Our team will offer insight into the programs and offer some tips on how to make sure your application stands out. Finally, review the application checklist so that you know the types of documents you’ll need to include with your application.
