Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Advisory Committee 2017
Program Directors Dr. Chris McKesson and Jon Mikkelsen held their periodic meeting with the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Advisory Committee
The UBC Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering program is committed to serving the real needs of industry. To this end the Program Directors Dr. Chris McKesson and Jon Mikkelsen held their periodic meeting with the Industry Program Advisory Committee on December 12, 2017. This committee consists of luminaries within the Canadian marine industry, and the meetings of the committee are always energetic and fruitful.
Two students of the SUBC team (University of British Columbia Human Powered Submarine) talked about their early Christmas present: the rescue of their “sailboat” Ada and discussed future research steps. Afterwards, the MEL in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering students Rohan Madethatt and Connor Maloney presented their case study “Innovation in Ship Design.”
Following the meeting, UBC hosted a presentation on maritime cybersecurity, provided by Lloyds Register.
