UBC MEL MHLP Employer Hire Your Next Leader 2020

The events of 2020 have affirmed what leading organizations already know: highly skilled, resilient, innovation-focused individuals bring measurable value to projects and teams. Finding these individuals for your next hire doesn’t have to be a long drawn-out process when you start your search with the latest graduates of a unique professional master’s degree program at UBC.

With a new year just around the corner, the 2020 cohort of Master of Engineering Leadership (MEL) and Master of Health Leadership and Policy (MHLP) professionals are finishing up their rigorous 12-month master’s degrees.

These graduates are ready to make meaningful contributions to their industry sectors with their proven experience, unique combination of technical and business skills, and demonstrated strengths in contributing to and leading in-person and virtual teams.

Both MEL and MHLP graduates have at least three years of previous engineering or health-care experience. They’ve built on that solid industry experience by investing in a professional master’s degree from one of the world’s leading universities. They’ve acquired the most up-to-date technical knowledge within their fields and learned from internationally renowned faculty in a collaborative research environment that prioritizes experiential learning opportunities.

But that’s not at all. The MEL and MHLP are unique interdisciplinary degrees that combine specialized sector-specific technical skills with foundational business, management and leadership courses developed in collaboration with the UBC Sauder’s Robert H. Lee Graduate School.

This gives graduates a solid understanding of business principles spanning business strategy and innovation, operations and logistics, project management and leadership.

This year’s graduates offer something else, too. They’ve been working and collaborating online since the spring of 2020, deepening their skills as leaders within a virtual environment. They know what it takes to build and lead effective teams within distributed work environments.
