Americana 2019

April 2, 2019
UBC MEL - Americana 2019

Americana 2019 was held in Montreal from the 26-28th of May. The conference was designed to encourage discussion and innovation while also opening up the conversation about best practice within the facilities services industry.

As a result of this opportunity, industry leaders like Veolia, Kaeser and ABB were present to provide expert advice, input and support to those professionals looking to further develop their businesses. Alongside them were a variety of smaller organizations, many of which focuses on water treatment, waste management and environmental services.

Whilst the networking was important, the seminars and sessions available to delegates were equally so. Taking the opportunity to learn from experts in site management, deconstruction and water management, attendees of the Americana conference grew in their understanding of the issues and opportunities facing their industry. This included presentations on Waste Management, Decontamination and Biodiversity.

Key to these learnings was an introduction to many of the new systems and technologies available to produce better, safer and more environmentally friendly results. It’s no longer about using chemicals as a cleaner, but rather using the right filtration systems to achieve the same results in a more eco-conscious way. Additionally delegates were able to discuss many of the government programs, both local and international that were impacting the industry. This discussion often focused on climate change initiatives, transport and upcoming green commitments and how they would impact the legal requirements of new build, retrofits and infrastructure upgrades of utilities and services across Quebec and the rest of Canada.
