Clinical Education program details

The health-care system is in a period of disruption and rapid change, creating a crucial need for leaders who can develop and implement transformative practices and who understand how clinical education functions within the broader context of an organization’s goals.

The MHLP in Clinical Education trains health-care leaders to analyze and contribute to professional practice standards and policies, develop strategies to address practitioners’ knowledge gaps, establish positive workplace cultures and create environments that support ongoing learning in support of patient-centred care.

You will develop the educational strategies and leadership skills to create caring, collaborative clinical environments.

This master’s program offers an in-depth exploration of clinical education, from understanding the context of clinical education and developing diverse learning experiences to leading clinical education teams and operations.

You will:

  • Analyze and interpret professional practice standards and regulatory policies
  • Design immersive learning experiences that cultivate clinical judgment in complex practice environments
  • Learn how to align clinical education with broader organizational goals and mandates, ensuring a holistic approach to health care

You’ll also develop your business skills, learning how to:

  • Incorporate principles of sustainability in processes and decisions
  • Apply visual analytics for effective analysis and communication
  • Successfully manage projects and teams
  • Address organizational leadership challenges
  • Understand key business functions, including accounting, market analysis, negotiations and contract management, and business case development
  • Learn how to support and lead strategic innovations
  • Be an effective and persuasive communicator

This interdisciplinary program is taught through the School of Nursing within the Faculty of Applied Science and UBC Sauder’s Robert H. Lee Graduate School

Courses incorporate project-based learning, enabling you to apply your knowledge to real-world examples and case studies. In your final semester you will complete a practicum working directly with a community-based partner

You’ll also benefit from professional development and career support from our dedicated career strategists. This includes ongoing workshops and professional development opportunities, one-on-one coaching and industry networking events exclusive to MHLP students.

This comprehensive experience culminates in equipping you with both the credentials and the expertise essential for steering your career toward new horizons.

Prepare for leadership roles where you’ll make bold, impactful decisions with confidence. 71% of our graduates receive promotions, and 78% transition to new career paths. The MHLP is not just about gaining knowledge—it’s about transforming into a leader who drives the future of your industry.
