Add immediate value to your organization by hiring an experienced professional with a unique combination of technical and business skills, ready to lead teams and projects in clean, and reliable, cost-effective energy production and supply, and low-carbon energy initiatives.
The talent you need
It can be challenging to find the right person for your team – someone who has the multidisciplinary technical and business skills to contribute strategic value to your organization and confidently lead teams and projects.
Graduates of the UBC Master of Engineering Leadership (MEL) in Clean Energy Engineering are ready to step into a range of professional roles in clean and renewable energy engineering to support the growth of the clean energy industry.
Our graduates stand out with their unique combination of skills. Over the course of their 12-month postgraduate degree, they have expanded their knowledge of clean energy engineering through courses from UBC Faculty of Applied Science. They have also deepened their business and leadership skills through classes offered from UBC Sauder’s Robert H. Lee Graduate School.
This powerful interdisciplinary education enables them to lead multidisciplinary teams and complex projects. They are strategic thinkers who thrive in fast-paced environments as they collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions and contribute to a more sustainable energy future.
Experienced professionals with specialized skills
A Clean Energy Engineering graduate has the multidisciplinary technical expertise needed to address evolving clean and renewable energy demands. Collaborative team players, visionary leaders and technically adept, they add value to your organization with their ability to:
- Apply various engineering tools to assess energy conversion systems from production to services, and across the industry value chain.
- Interpret the results of life-cycle assessments to evaluate the environmental impacts of energy systems and apply principles of industrial ecology and the circular economy to integrate systems of energy conversion, supply and use to improve sustainability and inform energy policy.
- Evaluate sustainable technologies involving geothermal, solar, wind and hydro systems, and critically evaluate fuel, heat and electric power production, transmission and distribution options.
- Design and apply different scale energy storage and transmission systems (including batteries, fuel cells, pumped hydro and compressed gas) that meet the demand for sustainable energy distribution and resilient grid loads, and identify and address potential problems related to energy efficiency and conservation in residential, commercial and industrial applications.
