UBC Naval Engineering on The West Coast

“Naval Engineering on the West Coast” is a dinner and discussion evening hosted by the University of British Columbia.

The event will be held at the historic San Diego Yacht Club, home to 3 America’s Cup Champions, 13 Olympians and 4 members of the National Sailing Hall of Fame. The evening will be highlighted by a presentation from distinguished naval innovator and former researcher with the Naval Ocean Systems Center, Dr. John W. Rockway.

Dr Rockway is well known for his development and application of computational techniques for advanced antenna and electromagnetic system analysis in shipboard environments. He is the originator of the Advanced Enclosed Mast Sensor System (AEM/S) concept and is co-author of the popular MiniNEC wire antenna simulation software. He will speak about the value of involving electrical engineers in ship design.

In conjunction with the talk from Dr Rockway, the evening will also include short presentations from Professor David Michelson concerning the recently announced UBC Marine Systems Initiative and Dr. Chris McKesson, former technical expert for Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) concerning education for those building a career in the Naval industry.

This will be followed by an opportunity to network with industry experts, thought leaders and practicing engineers.

Register to attend this event (places are strictly limited).
