UBC MEL in High Performance Buildings

The UBC Faculty of Applied Science is excited to announce that two additional Master of Engineering Leadership (MEL) programs have received ministry approval. Starting in 2018, students will now be able to complete intensive one-year degree programs in High Performance Buildings and Resource Engineering Management.

HIGH PERFORMANCE BUILDINGS

Take your career to new heights through an interdisciplinary approach to building design.

Energy use in buildings is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, making it a high priority to design more energy-efficient buildings and retrofit existing buildings. This is a growing sector, with opportunities in consulting, construction, manufacturing and government. Graduates of this program will have the technical and leadership skills to improve the energy performance of existing buildings and design integrated high-performance energy systems for new buildings.

RESOURCE ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT

Develop your ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in the resource sector, tackling resource-, environmental- and energy-related development challenges.

Resource industries are searching for technical leaders and project managers who know how to sustainably maximize asset value and minimize risk. They need engineers who are able to manage complex, multidisciplinary projects for the benefit of people, the environment and the economy. This program — located at the UBC Okanagan — will deepen technical expertise and widen leadership perspectives within the resource sectors.
